The Summer Food Service Program has added a site for children to get free meals in the Eastwood community. Blessed Sacrament School is in its first year participating in the city-wide program.
School principal, Andrea Polcaro, wanted to bring the program to the Eastwood area. "We thought that it would be a win-win for the community and everyone in this area of town," Polcaro said.
Attendance for lunch at Blessed Sacrament has been increasing daily. The school served lunch to over thirty children on July 7 and almost twice as many showed up the next day. Polcaro said she has been advertising in local stores and in the church bulletin so that other families will know about the program.
There are forty-five sites for the program in the area this summer. All sites have the same menu daily.
Blessed Sacrament School will be serving hot lunches weekdays through August 15th.
