The Sand Cat

The Sand Cats exhibit at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo is open and getting people's attention, says a zoo employee. On loan from the Cincinnati Zoo, the animals are in Syracuse for an unlimited amount of time. To make room for these animals, the Fennec Fox had to be moved from its home for the past seven years. Director of Public Relations, Lorrell Walter, says: "The current Fennec Fox that we have is actually a little bit older, and the rocks in the Sand Cat exhibit were fairly high, so we built new rocks in a new exhibit so they're lower and more accessible for her." Walter also says although both species are in unfamiliar territory, they're doing well in their new homes.
